GM sets to increase transmission production with 100M investment

DETROIT (ADAMS) – General Motors is looking to increase the production of its transmissions.

The automaker said Thursday that it will invest $100 million dollars between two plants, one in Michigan and one in Indiana, to make more 10-speed automatic transmissions that are typically found in Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra pickup trucks.

The move comes after the company said they’re seeing high demand for those vehicles. Recently, a worldwide semi-conductor chip shortage forced three GM plants to temporarily close.
