IN senators working to get Navy ship named after late Senator Lugar

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (ADAMS) -U.S. senators from Indiana are working to get a Navy ship named after the late Senator Richard Lugar.

Republicans Todd Young and Mike Braun announced the plan yesterday. They aim to get the next unnamed Arleigh Burke Class Destroyer warship named after Lugar through an amendment that would apply to the National Defense Authorization Act.

Senator Lugar served in the U.S. Navy from 1957 to 1960 before going on to act as a Senator from the State of Indiana.
