INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (ADAMS) – Indiana lawmakers are making it clear that they want a say in the state’s next ongoing emergency. On Thursday, both the Indiana House and Indiana Senate overrode Governor Eric Holcomb’s veto of their law that claimed some power in statewide emergencies.
Republicans say the law is not a rebuke of Governor Holcomb, instead, they say it is a check on the power of any governor. It’s unclear if the law will next be headed to court. The governor’s office has said in the past that the legislature is overstepping its bounds with some parts of the new law.
