Indiana Supreme Court not stopping stimulus check seizures

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (ADAMS) – Some people in Indiana may not get their stimulus check.

On Monday, the Indiana Supreme Court refused to step in and stop creditors in the state from seizing checks for past-due debts. The group Indiana Legal Services asked the court to protect the $1,400 checks that Congress started sending out this month.

The high court did not explain why it rejected Indiana Legal Services’ case. The decision leaves open the option for creditors to collect on people’s checks.
