Lawmakers consider nursing school expansion to amid shortage

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (ADAMS) – The omicron surge could lead to more nursing students in classrooms in Indiana.

Lawmakers are considering a plan that would allow nursing schools in the state to enroll more students, and hire more part-time teachers to get those students into the workforce.

Hospitals across the state say they do not have enough nurses, they hope by increasing the number of nursing students they will be able to find the workers they need.

Lawmakers are expected to vote on the plan in the next couple of days.
