Man critically wounded in Zollars Avenue shooting

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (ADAMS) – Fort Wayne police say a man is in critical condition after being shot Monday night.

He was found when officers and medics arrived to the 1300 of Zollars Avenue just southwest of downtown.

Several people called 911 reporting gunshots just before 10 p.m.

There is currently no word on any suspect information or what could have possibly been the motive.

Investigators are conducting interviews and police are asking the public to come forward with any tips that could help in the case.

FWPD officials released the following:

On Monday, 03/28/2022, at approximately 09:49 PM, the City of Fort Wayne Police Department responded to the 1300 block of Zollars Ave reference a shooting reported by multiple witnesses. Officers arrived and located an adult/male victim suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. Paramedics transported the victim to a local hospital where he was downgraded to life-threatening condition.

Detectives are currently interviewing witnesses and Crime Scene Technicians are processing the scene in an effort to obtain additional information.
