Muncie couple arrested for meth

MUNCIE, Ind. (ADAMS) – Police say that a Muncie couple is behind bars facing drugs charges after a traffic stop over the weekend.
Just before midnight on Saturday, 8/10, Indiana State Trooper Michael Garcia was driving north bound on Brady St. in Muncie when he noticed a Cadillac sedan in front of him turn east onto 1st St. without a turn signal. Garcia got the vehicle stopped shortly after it turned onto 1st St. and made contact with the driver, Danny Cook, age 53 of Muncie, who only had an Indiana Identification Card. Garcia found that Cook was a Habitual Traffic Violator with a lifetime license suspension, and that his female passenger, Ruth Stewart, age 48 of Muncie, was wanted on a misdemeanor warrant for Check Deception. Troopers Ridgway and Burns were nearby and came to assist Garcia.

Further investigation by the troopers found that Stewart was in possession of a smoking pipe and that Cook and Stewart were both in possession of Methamphetamine. Cook was arrested for Level 6 Felony Operating as a Habitual Traffic Violator and Level 6 Felony Possession of Methamphetamine. Stewart was arrested for Level 6 Felony Possession of Methamphetamine, misdemeanor Possession of Paraphernalia and the misdemeanor warrant for Check Deception. Both were lodged in the Delaware County Jail. The car Cook was driving was towed and impounded for False and Fictitious Registration.
