One man dead, another hurt in Fourth of July shooting

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (ADAMS) – Fort Wayne Police Department officials say that one man is dead and another is injured after a shooting Monday night just before 9 p.m.

Officers found both men suffering from gunshot wounds behind a home on the 4700 block of Calhoun Street. While waiting on paramedics, police say one man died at the scene. The other man is reported to have life-threatening injuries.

Police are now asking for tips in the case.

FWPD officials released the following:

On July 4th, 2022 at approximately 8:46PM, officers with the Fort Wayne Police Department responded to the 4700 block of S Calhoun St, regarding two adult males being shot. FWPD arrived on scene and located both males in rear of the residence, both suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.

Responding officers rendered aid, while awaiting the arrival of medics who later transported one male to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries. The second male was pronounced deceased on scene.

FWPD Homicide and Crime Scene Technicians were called out to process the scene. Detectives are going door to door attempting to locate witnesses and/or video surveillance.
