Ossian man arrested on child pornographer charges

WELLS CO., Ind. (ADAMS) – The Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force arrested a 26-year-old man from Ossian Tuesday afternoon on charges related to the possession of child pornography.

The investigation began this past February when a cyber tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC) was received by the ICAC Task Force.

As a result of the investigation, a search warrant was obtained and served at 1:20 p.m. Tuesday in the 200 block of South Metts Street. Based on preliminary findings as a result of the search warrant, 26-year-old Coty J. Burton was interviewed and subsequently taken into custody at the Ossian Police Department without incident. He was taken to and incarcerated in the Wells County Jail on the following preliminary charges:

Possession of Child Pornography, Level 6 Felony
Possession of Child Pornography (victims under age of 12), Level 5 Felony
At this time, additional examination of electronics is ongoing and the possibility of additional charges will be determined by the Wells County Prosecutor’s Office.

The ICAC Task Force was assisted by the Ossian Police Department and the Wells County Prosecutor’s Office.
