UPDATE: Shootout on the city’s southeast side injures 3

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (ADAMS) – A large crime scene spanned an area surrounding Gaywood Drive, close to Pettit Avenue Friday morning after at least one suspect opened fire around 2:30 a.m. Numerous calls came into Fort Wayne’s 911 dispatch following the shots.
Police responded to the 4800 Block of Gaywood Drive and were advised that witnesses said they saw multiple individuals running in the area as the shots were being fired.
Upon officers arrival they located an adult male victim suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. The victim was provided medical attention by paramedics and transported to a local hospital in serious condition. Officers were then advised that 2 additional victims, both adult males had been taken to local hospitals by citizen transportation. 1 victim was listed in serious condition and the other victim had been listed in critical condition both suffering from gunshot wounds. Officers on scene had located at least 2 homes and 2 vehicles that had been struck by bullets during this incident. Officers were also able to locate several weapons (handguns and assault style rifle)on the ground in the area of the incident as well. Due to the time of day Officers attempted to make contact with all occupants in the homes in the immediate area of the incident to confirm their safety due to the reports of multiple shots being heard and houses being struck by bullets.

The third victim was positively identified as Dominik Alaijuon Files, male, black, 28 years of age, of Fort Wayne, Indiana.
According to the Allen County Coroner the Cause of Death has been determined to be Multiple Gunshot Wounds and the Manner of Death is Homicide.

This incident remains under investigation by the Fort Wayne Police Department and Allen County Prosecutors Office.
Assisting Agencies included the Fort Wayne Fire Department and the Three Rivers Ambulance Authority.
It should also be noted that during this investigation Gaywood was closed between Maple Grove and Pettit for all vehicle and pedestrian traffic
