FORT WAYNE, Ind. (ADAMS) – Fort Wayne Fire Department officials are reporting two fires Monday night – each leaving the structures with heavy damage.
At nearly the exact same moment, crews were called to both 6210 Cordava Court, off Maplecrest close to East State Boulevard, and to 1023 Blue Stone Court, in a subdivision off Illinois Road. Crews prevented the flames at the Cordava Court from spreading to neighboring homes.
One firefighter was hurt while responding to the blaze off Illinois Road. No word on their condition – officials say they were taken to a local hospital for treatment.
FWFD officials released the following separately regarding the fires:
6210 Cordova Court
The Fort Wayne Fire Department responded to the report of a residential structure fire. The first unit on the scene found a 2 story home with the attached garage on fire which was also spreading to the house next door. Firefighters protected the neighbors house while attacking the fire in the garage. A search was performed but all the occupants had exited before the fire department arrived. The fire was brought under control in 34 minutes and no injuries were reported.
1023 Blue Stone Court
FWFD units were dispatched for a house on fire. Crews arrived on scene finding a two story house with fire on the back exterior of the home, which was extending into the attic spaces and roof of the home. Crews used multiple hose lines and had to cut open the roof and pull down ceilings to gain access to the extending fire and extinguish it. Home required heavy overhaul to make sure all the fire extension was found and extinguished. A firefighter was injured on scene and transported to a local hospital for treatment. TRAA, FWPD, Neighborhood Code Enforcement, AEP, and NIPSCO all made the scene and assisted. Fire Investigators are still working to determine the exact cause of the fire.
