Coroner rules shooting a murder-suicide

UPDATE (September 28, 2020):

The Allen County Coroner has identified two men who died in an apparent murder-suicide last Friday at Hanna Leith.

The coroner’s office released the following on Monday:

On Friday, September 25, 2020 at about 17:49 hours the Allen County Coroner’s Office was contacted reference double shooting investigation, located in the 600 block of Leith Street, Fort Wayne, Indiana, with two deceased persons at the scene. The two deceased persons were determined to be father and son.

Toma T. Davis, male black 89 years of age, from Fort Wayne, Indiana was found suffering from gunshot wound(s) and was pronounced deceased at the scene. An autopsy was performed and the Cause of Death is Multiple Gunshot Wounds and the Manner of Death is Homicide. Toma T. Davis is the 38th homicide in Allen County for 2020. Hawatheven L. Davis, male black, 57 years of age, from Fort Wayne, Indiana was found suffering from a gunshot wound and was pronounced deceased at the scene. An autopsy has been performed and the Cause of Death is Gunshot Wound of the Head and the Manner of Death is Suicide. This remains under investigation by the Fort Wayne Police Department, the Allen County Prosecutor’s Office and the Allen County Coroner’s Office.

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (ADAMS) -Fort Wayne police say to men are dead after a shooting close to Hanna and Leith on Friday afternoon. FWPD officials say that 5:45 pm officers from the Fort Wayne Police Department responded to the area of Hanna and Leith in reference to a reported shooting. Officers were advised that there had been reports of multiple shots being fired and that there was possibly two or three victims.
Upon their arrival, officers located two adult male victims suffering from apparent gunshot wounds and both victims were pronounced deceased by paramedics on scene.

Homicide Detectives and Crime Scene Technicians were paged to the scene and upon their arrival, they began to canvass the area and speak with all witnesses and neighboring homes to see if anyone had seen what took place and if there was anyone that had any type of video recording devices that possibly would show anything as well.
Crime Scene Technicians, along with members of the Fort Wayne Police Air Support Unit, were on scene gathering and documenting all evidence that may be associated with this incident.
Due to the size and location of the incident Hanna between Pontiac and McKee was closed for all traffic until the scene had been cleared by investigators.

Detectives are asking that anyone with any information regarding this incident to please call the Fort Wayne Police Detective Bureau at 427-1201 or Crime Stoppers at 436-STOP.
The Identities of the victims will be released at a later time by the Allen County Coroner’s Office.
This incident is being investigated by the Fort Wayne Police Department, Allen County Coroner’s Office, and the Allen County Prosecutor’s Office.
Assisting with this investigation was the Fort Wayne Fire Department, and Three Rivers Ambulance Authority.
