FORT WAYNE, Ind. (ADAMS) – Fort Wayne police say one woman is in critical condition following a crash Thursday morning. Officers were called to 4400 St Joe Center Rd after several callers reported a bad crash with a party pinned in a vehicle just before 10 a.m.
When officers and firefighters arrived they were able to extract an adult female that was thought to be pinned.
She was transported to a hospital where she was said to have life-threatening injuries. The other car occupied by an adult male was also transported but reported to have non-life threatening injuries.
The Fatal Accident Crash Team was called out to take over the investigation. According to preliminary reports, the male driver crossed the center line for an unknown reason while going east on St Joe Center. The female traveling west was struck when he did so.
Police say the crash is still under investigation.
The west lanes and one east lane of St Joe Center were shut down for about an hour and a half for the investigation.
