Coroner identifies woman struck and killed on S. Anthony

UPDATE (December 6, 2019 – 10:33 a.m.)

The Allen County Coroner has identified the victim in the crash. Around 10:30, Friday morning the Coroner’s Office released the following:

“The Allen County Coroner’s Office was notified of the Motor Vehicle vs Pedestrian Crash in the 4400 block of S. Anthony Blvd. Ft. Wayne, Indiana at about 18:05 hours on December 5, 2019.

The deceased has been positively identified and notification has been made to the next of kin of Leah Marie Weber, female white, 38 years of age, from Ft. Wayne, Indiana.
An autopsy has been completed. The Cause of Death is Blunt Force Injuries due to Motor Vehicle vs Pedestrian Crash and the Manner of Death is Accident.

Leah Marie Weber is the 37th fatal traffic accident in Allen County for 2019.”

This incident remains under investigation by the Fort Wayne Police Department, the Allen County Prosecutor Attorney’s Office and the Allen County Coroner’s Office.

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (ADAMS) – FWPD officials say one woman is dead after she was hit by a car on South Anthony Boulevard.

Shortly after 6:00 p.m., officers with the Fort Wayne Police Department responded to reports of an accident involving a motor vehicle and a pedestrian in the 4400 block of South Anthony.

Upon the officer’s arrival on the scene, they located an adult female victim lying in the roadway suffering from life-threatening Injuries. Paramedics and fire personnel arrived shortly thereafter and the victim was pronounced deceased.

The initial information received was that the vehicle was heading north on Anthony at the time of the accident and the victim was crossing the street.

Fatal Accident investigators were called to the scene to speak with witnesses as well as process the scene to establish the sequence of events leading up to the accident. Police say it is too early to establish any contributing factors to the incident.

The Identity of the victim and the cause and manner of death will be released at a later time by the Allen County Coroner’s Office.

This incident is being investigated by the Fort Wayne Police Department, Allen County Coroner’s Office, and the Allen County Prosecutor’s Office.
